Questions from St Helens
Do you cover St Helens?
Yes. St Helens is about 8 miles from our base in Wigan, and we cover St Helens, Haydock, Rainford, Billinge and Thatto Heath (WA9, WA10 and WA11). Ring Gaz on 07923 485811 or send a few photos on WhatsApp.
Do I need a dropped kerb in St Helens?
Yes, if you'll drive over the pavement to get onto the drive. In St Helens you apply to St Helens Council. They assess it and send a free quote, and the crossing can be built by the council or by a contractor. On an A, B or C road you may need planning permission first. It can take a while, so it's worth applying early. More on St Helens Council's dropped kerb page.
Do I need planning permission for a new drive in St Helens?
Not usually. A new front drive doesn't need planning permission if the surface lets water through, or the rain drains into a lawn or border on your own land. If it's over 5 square metres, solid and drains onto the road, it does, and in St Helens you'd apply to St Helens Council.
How much does a new driveway or patio cost in St Helens?
Every job is priced on its size, the material and what has to come up first. Send a few photos on WhatsApp to 07923 485811 and Gaz will give you a free price. If it's worth a visit, he'll come out and measure up.
